at the moment, i don't sleep well and have constant tension pain in my neck and/or headaches. i just can't relax. herbal teas, taking baths or a glass of wine in the evening, you name it, i've tried it. do you have any good tips? i'm just a little worried that this will continue until the end of summer, as i'm chock-a-block with projects (which is great, but stressful).

i'm exactly the same. yoga's the only thing that really works for me (that and being by the sea which sadly isn't possible often!) but getting out of work in time to make a class is the constant challenge...

Hope all is soon on the mend again soon. Neck pain and headaches are more than a nuisance, especially when there is so much to do fun or otherwise.

I second Charlotte, yoga helps for me. It is good to think only of the postures your body is doing and still the mind.

Good luck with your projects.

yoga or pilates, and buy an orthopedic pillow!

Grey-green and blue is just an amazing association!
Why not go and see an osteopath?

I practice Yoga, too. Sun salutations every morning. It helps a lot :)
But maybe there is something blocked in your upper spine, might be wise to see a doctor or a physical therapist.
Hope you get well soon!

Yes, yoga. Keep caffeine in the morning hours. Also a winding down period at the end of the day without television, food, drink, etc...just slowing down and relaxing before sleep. I hope you feel better soon. Take care, Denise

Yoga!!! Take care!

i was going to suggest a good chiropractor - i had a neck issue in my 20s that was so bothersome and tried everything and nothing worked until i was adjusted, and i haven't had trouble since. sometimes things get out of alignment.

hmm, doesn´t sound good.. my suggestions are osteopath or physiotherapy. something soft and moving, to find out what it is with your neck.
and maybe massage, in case your shoulders are so tight the blood doesn´t really run in to your head?

I'm a believer in getting your body moving too. Yoga or swimming top of the list. I know exactly what you are talking about, it does sounds like you need to perhaps disconnect a little everyday…..find something to get you out of work/internet mode everyday and just be alone with yourself. That's where the exercise helps!

oh dear,

I am familiar with the old "headless chicken" effect (plus sleeping disorder.) the only thing that works for me is actually believing in the relaxing moments you have.

properly letting go and thinking "sod it all" now and again. (having said that, I wake up thinking about work and stuff, but it's much better than it was ;)

getting really pissed and going out "a muerte" may help too. nothing like a good old-fashioned mental night out, really.

good luck (just posted a couple of pics of my olive tree too :)

I'm sorry to hear you are struggling with sleeping and tension headaches. If poor posture and muscle tension are contributing to your tension-type headache, physiotherapy may help to relieve these symptoms. Acupuncture may relieve some of the symptoms of your tension-type headache by helping to reduce tension in your muscles.

I hope this helps :)

I have had evil headaches and tension pains for ages, and the only thing that really helped was swimming and a chiropractor who yanked me about a bit - (I hated every minute of it, but it really helped, so I go when it gets to much9.
And breeeeathe - stress does this to you too :O)

Go to a sports physio for a massage. My sister is one. She can get everything out like that.
